Clément Vidal

Dr. Clément Vidal is a distinguished philosopher with a focus on some of the universe's most profound questions. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he has been a researcher and assistant professor for over 18 years. His research integrates fields such as logic, cognitive sciences, cosmology, physics, astrobiology, complexity science, and evolutionary theory.

Dr. Vidal co-founded the Evo Devo Universe community. He authored the influential book “The Beginning and the End: The Meaning of Life in a Cosmological Perspective” and delivered a notable TEDx talk in Eindhoven and another in Paris, where he discussed the evolution of the cosmos and its philosophical implications. Currently, Dr. Vidal is engaged in several research projects at Human Energy, focusing on the noosphere, ethics, and the search for technosignatures.

As a mentee under Dr. Vidal, you will engage in thought-provoking discussions about our existence in the universe, the potential for extraterrestrial life, the noosphere, and humanity’s future in the cosmos. This mentorship offers a unique opportunity for students interested in astrophysics, space exploration, and interdisciplinary insights into the nature of life and intelligence in the universe.

Shima Beigi

Dr. Shima Beigi is an expert in the resilience of complex systems and smart city design. She earned her PhD from the University of Bristol and holds two MSc degrees from the University of Oxford and Bristol.

Currently, Dr. Beigi is a senior scientist at Human Energy, a research resident at the Institute for Advanced Studies (UM6P), and the founder of Triple AI Therapeutics. Her work integrates Sufi wisdom, resilience, and mindfulness into smart city development, advocating for mindful approaches to digital technologies. She is also the author of Mindful Smart Cities.

This mentorship is ideal for those interested in smart city design, sustainability, resilience engineering, and innovative approaches to creating more mindful, resilient environments.

Michael Jacob

Michael Jacob, MD, PhD, is a neurobiologist and psychiatrist whose work weaves interdisciplinary threads to understand how experience comes to life in biology, the mind, and society. He is an Assistant Professor at UCSF, Director of the Psychosis and Metabolic Mental Health Clinics at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, and researcher with Human Energy. His work employs theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches, including neurophysiology and the neuroimaging of brain metabolism. He leads an Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Research Group to foster collaborative studies of the brain and society, drawing from the humanities, semiotic, and dynamical systems theories.

Michael is particularly interested in experiential meaning-making and in moving from computational frameworks of the brain and mind, to the living heart of biological systems. As both a scientist and a clinician, he guides individuals to find their calling in life, an approach that relies as much on narrativity, music, and poetry, as it does on the science of life.

As a mentee under Dr. Jacob, you will have the opportunity to engage in topics examining how the interconnectedness of individual minds contributes to the emergence of a collective intelligence. You will delve into discussions about the implications of these findings for our understanding of ethics, meaning, and societal values in the digital age. This mentorship is ideal for those interested in neuroscience, collective consciousness, and the ethical implications of technology in shaping human experience.

Parham Pourdavood

Parham Pourdavood is a cognitive and geospatial data scientist, software developer, and researcher at Human Energy. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in computer and cognitive sciences.

Parham works on projects regarding planetary intelligence, such as developing computer simulations of advanced genetic and neural networks and analyzing neurological and societal data to uncover complex patterns. His main focus is to show how geometric patterns of communication can create meaning in biological organisms and the noosphere.

As a mentor, Parham offers a unique opportunity to work on an exciting new project at Human Energy. You will learn how to create a custom AI chatbot designed to provide an optimistic, scientifically-backed perspective on life for younger generations. Working with Parham, you will contribute to a mission focused on inspiring and educating future generations through innovative technology.

Marta Lenartowicz

Marta Lenartowicz holds a PhD in humanistic management with backgrounds in social epistemology, complexity studies, theoretical linguistics, and philosophy of mind. In her work, she seeks to advance the underpinnings that govern the evolution of intelligence in human cognitive systems at multiple scales. She is interested in the philosophy of cognitive science and conceptual approaches to the evolution of intelligence, cognitive development, distributed cognition, and collective consciousness.

From 2014 to 2024, Lenartowicz participated in several interdisciplinary research projects at CLEA, focusing on collective intelligence and cognition. In 2015-2018 she was the managing director of our Global Brain Institute, in 2018-2021 the curriculum designer and first director of the Postgraduate School of Thinking VUB, and in 2021-2024 the principal of CLEA's spinoff educational outreach initiative, Buckminster College. In 2023/24 she taught 'Complexity and Evolution' and 'Technology and Society' courses at the Department of Philosophy VUB and 'The Locus of Thought' and 'Thinking Studio' classes at the School of Thinking. For a few years, she was hosting the CLEA open seminar series.

Lenartowicz is currently involved in a governance decentralization project for NuNet.
